Meet The Hintons

Welcome to Meet The Hintons!  After such a long time of “being too busy,” I have finally gotten around to updating this site (or more accurately, Tanya told me that my life depended on it).  For those trying to follow our Journey to Madison, my apologies for not getting around to this sooner.  So, let me bring everyone up to speed. 

After a decade of marriage and infertility issues, Tanya and I decided to move forward in our family plan with an adoption (this had always been a part of our plan, we just didn’t think we would be exercising this option as a first resort).  We started by by doing some research into the type of adoption, and the various options that each presented.  After careful consideration decided to go the international route, and selected China (at the time they had the most predictable process and expected wait time).  Armed with this information, we began the process of selecting an agency (we chose Crossroads Adoption Services).

Over the course of the next six months, we completed our home study, (holy paperwork Batman) and submitted the necessary applications to the US and Chinese governments.  With all our paperwork completed, we sent our dossier to the CCAA (China Center for Adoption Affairs) on 11/2/2005.  We were later notified that our LID (log in date) was 11/23/2005.  [A log in date is like getting one of those “take a number” tickets you get when you go to the DMV or department stores the day after Christmas when trying to return or exchange something, (picture long lines).]  Hence, the waiting began.  Originally, we were informaed that this wait would be about 6-8 months…           …twenty grueling months later on Tuesday, September 4th, we finally received a photograph and dossier for our daughter (Madison Ping Yi Hinton).

On Monday morning, October 22nd, the final chapter in our journey to Madison will begin as Tanya and I will board a plane for Beijing, China.  Tanya and I will be blogging about the events of our journey, including photos and perhaps even some video on this site.  We plan to post something each day so come back everyday from 10/22 - 11/7 for the daily update.  Oh, and by the way, we’ve never been parents before so we would appreciate your prayers!!!   Blessings!
